Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is an implementation of Microsoft's Visual Basic which is built into all Microsoft Office applications.

Support for VBA is not complete, but it covers a large portion of the common usage patterns. Most macros use a manageable subset of objects in the Excel API (such as the Range, Worksheet, Workbook, etc.) and the support include those objects, and the most commonly used method/properties of those objects.

Selecting this radio button will have LibreOffice Base generate a primary key field for the table. If you place a check in the Auto value check box Base will generate an ID number for each record. The number for each new record will incrementally increase the number. For example, the first record would be A010; the second record would be A011. I can't seem to get the LibreOffice Base to work on my Mac running Yosemite 10.10. (iMac early 2009). Everything else seems to be working fine, except for Base. LibreOffice Base Described by LibreOffice as a 'full-featured desktop database front end,' Base can be the gateway to a wide range of multiuser database engines, such as MySQL, MS Access, MariaDGB. LibreOffice includes a spreadsheet creator, text edition tool, presentation creator, graphic editor, formula creator, and a database creation tool. In short, it offers (for free) exactly what Microsoft Office offers for.

Loading Microsoft Office documents with executable VBA macros

Choose - Load/Save - VBA Properties and mark the Executable code checkbox. Then load or open your document.

Executable code

The VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code will be loaded ready to be executed. If this checkbox is not checked, the VBA code will be commented out so it can be inspected, but will not run.

After loading the VBA code, LibreOffice inserts the statement Option VBASupport 1 in every Basic module to enable a limited support for VBA statements, functions and objects. See Option VBASupport Statement for more information.

Running VBA Macros

Run VBA macros in the same way as LibreOffice Basic macros.

Since support for VBA is not complete, you may have to edit the VBA code and complete the missing support with LibreOffice Basic objects, statements and functions.

Editing VBA Macros

VBA macros can be edited in the LibreOffice Basic IDE.

Hi. I can't seem to get the LibreOffice Base to work on my Mac running Yosemite 10.10. (iMac early 2009). Everything else seems to be working fine, except for Base. I keep getting the error message:

*'The connection to the data source 'New Database' could not be established. No Java Installation could be found. Please check your installation.'*

I downloaded Java for OS X 2015-001 from the Apple Support page (link is https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?l... ), and that was seemingly installed without any problems. I then restarted the computer and opened of Base, and keep getting the same error message.

Should I be installing the Java found in the Apple Support Page? Or, should I be installing the Java from this link: https://www.java.com/en/download/mac_... .

If it doesn't matter which link I download Java from, then how do I get Java to run so that I can use Base?

It doesn't work on IMacOS Sierra either! You can load every manual jre or jdk in existence, one after the other, (and I have) and it still has no effect on base.
